Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) attended today morning at the MoI Headquarters the launch of the Together We Celebrate Tolerance’ initiative organized by the Inspector General Office in line with the MoI initiatives for the Year of Tolerance. The launch comes in conjunction with the UAE’s celebration of the International Day for Tolerance on November the 16th of each year.
Major General Al Raisi said in a speech on the occasion that the UAE launched a national program of tolerance, which was adopted by the Council of Ministers in 2016 in order to consolidate the values of tolerance, multiculturalism and acceptance of the other and to reject discrimination, hatred and intolerance of thought, education and behavior, pointing out that His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, declared 2019 the Year of Tolerance in the United Arab Emirates, with the aim of highlighting the UAE as a global capital of tolerance and affirming the value of tolerance as an extension of the approach of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan The role of sustainable institutional work in order to deepen dialogue and accept the other and open to all different cultures from around the world.
He stressed the Ministry of Interior's keenness to support tolerance initiatives to spread a culture of tolerance and to reject hatred, violence and racism, in line with the ministry's strategy to achieve the strategic goal of enhancing security and safety in society.
Hosnia Mohammed Al Ali, head of educational programs at the National Archives, said that the declaration of 2019 as a year of tolerance reflects the approach adopted by the UAE since its inception to be a bridge of communication and convergence between the peoples of the world in an open environment based on respect and renounce extremism and accept the other.
She stressed that tolerance in society aims to promote the values of tolerance in the family and society and entrench it among different cultures and openness to other societies, and activate the role of community centers in promoting the values of tolerance and cultural diversity in the country, pointing to the importance of consolidating the values of tolerance among different members of society in all areas of life.
For his part, Captain Sheikha Saeed Al Kaabi, head of the community monitoring department at the General Directorate for Community Protection and Crime Prevention, said that tolerance is one of the most important topics of the national agenda, noting that tolerance exists but needs to be organized and adopted as a way of life and not just phrases that are echoed, and that coexistence and dealing With different cultures and acceptance of others, that is to accept different opinions and invest this difference in the ease of dealing with others and respect, as it shows that employees can integrate the values of tolerance in their daily dealings. These positive effects can be identified in the following four points: job happiness, job satisfaction, job loyalty and job creativity.
