Regional Program on Community Based Policing to Combat Extremism
The Regional Program on Community Based Policing to Combat Extremism has been launched in Abu Dhabi, hosted by the Ministry of the Interior MOI in partnership with the National Defense College in Washington and Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies.
This program discusses the concept, role, duties and methods of developing community policing.
This international training program discusses the importance of the idea and philosophy of Community Policing (COP) as an effective response to the challenge of Countering Violent Extremism (CVE).The program is considered a means to provide solutions and broad approach for sake of building capacities that could help in enhancing the governments’ efforts represented by the police authorities through reinforcing the institutional capacity to provide basic public service to protect society from extremism.
The 4-day discussions revolves on the challenge of formulating and enabling the institutionalization of countering extremism, whilst taking into account the local needs and cultural contexts.
