MOI marks World Health Day

The Ministry of the Interior has taken part in marking the World Health Day which falls on April 7 every year.

This participation comes as part of the Ministry’s strategic objectives to support and promote health awareness and culture among community members and as an embodiment of human values and principles. It also comes to spread health awareness, ensure the health and safety of all staff, and enhance the practice of sound health behaviors.

A virtual workshop was held via video-conference technology titled "A healthy lifestyle." Keynote speakers in the workshop were Colonel Dr. Maryam Saeed Al Naqbi, Deputy Director of the Medical Services Department, Dr. Sumaya Al Beloushi from the Ministry of Health, and Captain Dhiab Al Mahrami from the General Directorate of Punitive and Correctional Institutions. The workshop was moderated by the Captain Fahad Heikal from the Ministry’s Human Rights Department.

A brief explanation of the healthy lifestyle concept was made, how a person's lifestyle can be changed to lead a wholesome, healthy life, and the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal life during the pandemic and modern life where technology is predominant.

On the other hand, the General Directorate of Civil Defense organized a medical campaign, in cooperation with the Royal Medical Group, at the General Directorate of Civil Defense in Abu Dhabi. The campaign included medical examinations for the Directorate’s staff (blood pressure check, blood sugar test, heart rate, and temperature check) to ensure the health and safety of all civil defense staff.

In cooperation with the Medical Services Department of the General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, the Police College organized an awareness-raising lecture titled Healthy Nutrition for candidate students through video-conference technology. At the lecture, Shamsa Matar Al Neyadi, a nutrition specialist in the Medical Services Department, spoke about the importance of food and the direct impact it has on our health. She said that a healthy meal prevents some diseases and cures other diseases, noting that an unhealthy meal would make people more vulnerable to various diseases. Al Neyadi then recommended eating healthy, balanced meals so that the body receives the vitamins and energy it needs. The specialist concluded her speech by explaining some other nutritional benefits which people can gain to lead a healthy life.
